Course Offering

The attached curriculum are similar to those of most USA universities, in order to facilitate course credit transfer as well academic acceptance at other institutions in the USA and elsewhere. Though the courses will be similar to USA curriculum, special sensitivity will be maintained toward the Chinese culture and setting. Faculty is recruited from the USA, China, and elsewhere.

World University - Beijing’s goal is to establish Beijing’s premier American-style PhD in Business Administration. We will be working cooperatively with universities in the USA and BSU to provide students with state-of-the art business research techniques.

Requirements for admission are based on a demonstration of aptitude for research via the application process, a Research Methods exam, previous study, and work experience. However, no one specific type of former degree is required.
Prerequisite modules

Depending on their educational background, students entering the course may need to take one or more Prerequisite Modules to gain the basic knowledge needed for the rest of their PhD studies.

The following Prerequisite Modules that may be required for different students:

    • Statistics (3 credits)
    • Research Methods (3 Credits)
    • MBA courses that are specific to the area of research specialization

Core Modules

The Core Modules comprise the core body of knowledge for the degree.
All students must take the following Core Modules:

    • Theory Construction (3 Credits)
    • Quantitative Research I (3 Credits)
    • Qualitative Research (3 Credits)
    • Integrative Research Seminar (3 Credits)
    • Quantitative Research II (3 Credits)
    • Modeling (3 Credits)
    • Doctoral Seminar I (3 Credits)
    • Doctoral Seminar I (3 Credits)
    • Doctoral Seminar III (3 Credits)

Course Structure

Students must complete the entire program of 51 credits (9 credits per semester, and only 6 credits the final semester). The course modules are the same for all the specializations. However, in the second and third year, each student will work on a specialized dissertation. Please refer to the following table for more detailed information. Classes will be held on weekends and evenings to accommodate work schedules.
